And I’m a little sad! Because Queen’s Bay is ending, and right now, we’re facing down a pretty bad boss fight, and while Sereno probably won’t die, he’s very scared for his fiance, who is on the front lines of this final battle, as we’re dealing with an archmage of Time and Ulciscor is a Guardian of the Veil.
And this is our only and last chance against this fucker, because if we lose this battle, Heimdallr will just hit the cosmic reset button and make sure everyone involved is long dead well before he got involved. And the power difference is insane.
Thank God Will and Erin aren’t killer GMs.
But how the hell do you beat an archmage of Time? With 20 something vampires, 20 something changelings, 5 Sin-eaters, 10 non-specced mages (mostly of the Free Council), and probably 10 or 15 werewolves who have already suffered major casualties.
The scene that killed the Astra
So Sereno and Ulciscor are a long running pair in the mixed nWoD game I’m in. Sereno is a Spring Court Wizened, the resident onieromancer and academic, dating Ulciscor, a Mastigos Guardian of the Veil who is best described as magical MIB/Agent Smith. They balance each other well, with Sereno being a sweet, nervous, whimsical geek and Ulciscor being a smooth, serene, taciturn stealth dork.
Well, you’ll see what happened in the read more. (Don’t read the tags unless you want a spoiler.)
Just for now, I’m going to post two of the descriptions
In this case, Susan and (let me find someone who doesn’t have a name that starts with S who isn’t Quinn…) Justin. Huh! Two nWoD characters! Won’t be arsed to post reference pictures, I’m a little too lazy for that. >_>
One of the first signs of Susan Leopold’s presence tends to be the smell of roses about her, the second best noticed when she opens her mouth, a shockingly strong, confident voice that comes out of trembling lips. Susan is a short, heavy-set sixteen-year-old with midnight-black hair cut to frame her face, pale peach skin, and a pair of oval-shaped glasses with black rims help to frame her hazel eyes. She tends to dress in severe black, with prim skirts and long sleeves and stockings snug on her plump figure, or pants with long gloves on her hands.
Under her Mask, Susan’s colors become more vibrant, the color of jewels. Pale skin softens to the shade of mother of pearl, with bright silver scars crisscrossing her skin, with a rose-pink blush staining on her face and lips. Midnight-black hair takes on the fire of the azure sapphire set on her brow, with a white rose curling in the silk of her hair. While she is pretty like all of her kind, it is a beauty that is only remarkable in its mundanity and softness. Under her petaled skin is ruby for flesh, and she still dresses well.
Justin’s a Sin-eater, as a note, so he gets a second description. But where Susan has her Mask and Mien, Justin has Zephyrus, his Geist.
Justin Murdock looks like a picture-perfect golden boy, with shaggy brown hair, pale green eyes, and the sleek build of a runner or a swimmer. The kid has something of a cocky stance and a daredevil gleam to his pretty eyes, and no matter what, he carries a blue silken scarf that makes his pink throat look a bit bruised when he wears it.
Zee, short for Zephyrus, was once a bootlegger but his memories of his life are pretty fuzzy. He remembers the fun and the booze and the liquor, not the nonsense that led him to his premature death. Because of it, he stylizes himself as something far more classical than he really was, making his ghostly self look like a Greco-Roman statue of an athlete with crumbling bits falling off and then being pressed back on by little breaths of wind, his neck lined with cracks and other parts of him only held together by the wind that swirls about him and the winding blue cloth wrapped about him. A strip of that cloth winds about Justin, taking the form of the blue scarf he wears all of the time.
Commission for Mooney and her two OCs. <3
Because I actually don’t have art of Sereno topping, but both do happen.
(PS, technically, Ulciscor is the GM’s, the half-green eyed boy is mine.)
MEANWHILE FOR THE NEW PEOPLE, I HAVE MULTIPLE PCS/CHARACTERS I PLAY IN GAMES. This one is Sereno Blackwood, a half-Mexican academic who got kidnapped by the fae, turned into a changeling forced to clean a vast, empty library without food or water, and then when he finally escaped, facepalmed when he realized he was a brownie.
The man with the slightly emo haircut is his significant other, a magician by the title Ulciscor who acts as magical MIB and general spywork. He’s the anti-hero of a story, cold, collected, and repressing knowledge that shouldn’t come to light, but he isn’t one of the heroes here. Nope, Sereno is, sweet, anxious Sereno, a fussy fairy who takes strength in the tranquil stability and relative normalcy that comes out of their relationship, similar to how Ulciscor is comforted by having a place he can go and be told “Go sit down, I’ll finish cooking and we can dish.”
(… the puns are something Ulciscor has gotten used to.)
"The answer is in trying to figure out which dreams are canon, and which are subconscious fanfic."
A commission for astrakiseki of her OC Sereno cosplaying as Cecil from Welcome to Night Vale. She remarked that he kind of looked like the lovechild of Cecil and Carlos, and I have to agree. XD
He has tattoos reminiscent of the Voynich Manuscript and a ‘third eye’ drawn on in marker. I figured purple argyle and a bowtie looked Cecil-ish enough for cosplay purposes.
Thanks for the fun commission, Mooney!
If you are interested in commissioning artwork from me, you can drop me an Ask and I will be happy to discuss terms. :)
Sereno Blackwood in his own setting is a changeling, a half-Mexican young man who was stolen by the fae and turned into a housekeeping brownie. He was locked in a library without food or water for long enough that he resorted to eating paper and drinking ink to try to feed himself. It didn’t work, but it infused him with a supernatural gift for words. Eventually he escaped, but the damage remains, including his left eye being removed and replaced by a dragon’s.
He’s a sweetheart, acting as the changelings’ expert on dreams and the resident historian of his local supernatural community. In mortal society, he writes for a living while working on a graduate degree in medieval literature in the Spanish department. Outside of that, he takes care of a specific historical manor near the university (the Changeling freehold), giving him an outlet for his borderline need to do chores to comfort himself. He’s a lot better than the nervous wreck he once was, with his mage of a boyfriend acting as a major stabilizing point in Sereno’s life. (He is also the unlucky bastard who often has to listen to all of his boyfriend’s puns.)
HOW MANY GAMES DO YOU PLAY?!
As some of my friends have asked me.
The answer is six regular games, all online. I’m actually at a low tide for games. You see, there were times, years ago, where I had games five nights a week, plus play by post, and I’m pretty sure during one time span, I was larping once a month too. I’m enjoying the free time.
Anyway, the list is
Way too much rambling
I’m bored and analyzing three of my OCs, so don’t mind me. Involves physical evolutions, ethnicities, gender (not so much sexuality), occasional pondering of views and beliefs and social issues, and me just spewing bullshit. If you read it, remember that I have been building this for years and certain thoughts are artifacts of a younger me and I don’t mind you pointing it out or yelling at me. These are fantasy settings which makes things a bit more complicated and easier as well… Anyway.
Oh that sounds fun! I do love a good nWOD game.
It’s been going on for a year and a half, and it is
pretty fun. But it’s more like four separate solo games that occasionally cross paths and help each other than a single mixed game.
Like the reason why Sereno, my character, is dealing with the vampire is because he got pulled into helping the Sin-eater with a project to restore a vampire’s soul, as the one who has to track down the vampire in question’s dreams and he needs more context than he has involving vampires to help figure out more about the ritual. The fact he has his own side project to get historical information helped encourage him wanting to approach the vampiress, but even now, it’s sort of insane.
It’s just RP stuff I’m smiling about, don’t worry
Dammit, Will, post
No, not Will Graham. I do tabletop RPGs online, and one of my GMs is named Will. He’s currently being a slow poster during a scene involving my changeling dealing with a vampire academic who works professionally as a dominatrix, heaven help the poor boy. He thought the easiest way to get a meeting was to arrange an appointment, and he’s finding out that this is going to be a very awkward evening. At the moment, he’s on his knees, half-blindfolded, his shirt and sweater rucked up and rumpled to expose his back, with nipple clamps. His gentleman friend is aware of what’s going on, but is in another room because he doesn’t want to see this, not when he knows it’s going to hurt and can’t really do anything to intervene.
On the bright side, that mage is going to probably get jumped by the changeling and begged for aftercare after this is all over.
For those playing the home game, I’m playing a Spring Wizened dealing with an Ordo Dracul Daeva, with a Mastigos Guardian of the Veil in another room. It’s entertaining.
So last night during Geist, Justin rolled 14 successes on 13 dice to activate the Bitter Wind Caul.
… the GM agreed to let me go into 54 xp worth of XP debt to get Caul 5, meaning the little bastard suddenly melted into the wind and teleported to where he was going, scaring the shit out of his krewe as he suddenly appeared in the backyard of the Haunt. Bitter Wind Caul 4 lets him dodge attacks by burning plasm to turn parts of him into wind.
In essence, my Sin-eater just went god-tier, and his title is Heir of Breath.
Back in the sort of saddle for one of my RPs and one of the first things that happens is a brownie is asking his psychic MIB boyfriend about inviting a vampire dominatrix over to chat about tattoos and history.
Said boyfriend isn’t helping matters by commenting about watching him getting paddled and hugging him.
The power to control minds, manipulate space, and no attachments to the city. And what makes what’s basically an one-eyed James Bond stay?
A lovestruck brownie.
